2nd ISOTOPICS meeting

Published on 1 May 2017

The 2nd ISOTOPICS Meeting took place at the Lindner Congress Hotel in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) on 27th-28th April 2017. This 2-day meeting, organised by Sanofi, gathered the network PIs, the 15 ESRs, some partners and one member of the Advisory Board (37 participants).

After the management team presentation about the project follow-up, each ESR gave an oral communication (15 min. + 5 min. of questions) about the context of their PhD project and their first results. These scientific presentations gave the opportunity to the ESRs to improve their communication skills and show the consortium their research progresses.

At the end of the first day, Prof. William Kerr (University of Strathclyde, UK) was invited to give a plenary lecture (1h of conference and 20 minutes of questions/discussion). The title of the conference was "Iridium Catalyst Systems of Enhanced Utility in C-H Activation and Hydrogen-Isotope Exchange".

Prof. Kerr presented an outstanding talk which was valued by all the ISOTOPICS consortium. He also attended the following dinner in order to interact and exchange with several ESRs and PIs of the consortium.

The social event of this meeting was organised at the Eberbach Monastery (Eltville am Rhein; 40 min by bus from Frankfurt). All the participants enjoyed first a wine-tasting tour in the wine cellars of the world-famous Steinberg vineyard and then a nice dinner at the Monastery.

The discussions between the ESRs and the PIs were fruitful for envisaging the application of the studied synthetic methodologies within the network and help to refine the secondments plan.
